What is PCCS?
Putnam County Comprehensive Services (PCCS) is a private, not for profit
agency serving citizens with mental, physical or developmental
disabilities and some with economical needs in Putnam and surrounding counties.
PCCS serves infants (0-3 years of age), preschoolers ( 3-5-years years of age),
adults (16 years and over), and limited services for school age children
(6 -15 years of age). PCCS presently offers approximately thirty (30)
different services. Currently we have approximately 750 individuals with
special needs who are enrolled in the various programs and services offered
by this agency. A few of the services provided by PCCS expand into 25 counties.
History
Over 35 years ago a group of Putnam county citizens recognized the need for
services for individuals with disabilities. In 1968 our agency was incorporated
with an enrollment of thirteen adults and seventeen preschoolers. After
several changes in name, location and funding sources, we are now known as
Putnam County Comprehensive Services, Inc. to better identify with the numerous
programs and services we provide.
Mission
The mission of PCCS is to provide services to individuals with disabilities
and similar characteristics in order to reach their potential in attitudes,
habits and skills through training and integration, making them contributing
members of their community; and to promote community awareness and acceptance
of people with differing disabilities.
Coordination of Services
All programs and services provided by PCCS are individually designed
around the persons needs, abilities, strengths and preferences. Upon enrollment,
a staff person is assigned to each individual and serves as a Case Manager.
This staff person assists the individual by assuring that programs and services
are needed, coordinated and provided in a timely manner. PCCS works closely
with the other social service organizations in the community. Therefore,
should PCCS be unable to provide a service needed by the individual, the Case
Manager will assist the individual in obtaining those services elsewhere in the
community. A staff of trained and experienced employees provides a base for
individual development for individuals with disabilities by encouraging
innovation, creativity and enthusiasm.
